Sanbona Wildlife Reserve offers three accommodation types. Dwyka Tented Lodge has nine luxury tents under a cliff, each with a private plunge pool and outdoor shower. Tilney Manor, built in Cape Georgian style, has six rooms with private patios overlooking the Karoo. Gondwana Family Lodge includes tailored kids' programs. All rooms have heated floors, a bathtub, and outdoor showers.
Eating and Drinking
The lodge restaurants serve buffet breakfasts with granola, yogurt, and hot options. Lunch and dinner include à la carte and BBQ braai nights. The menu adapts for gluten-free needs. Wine and champagne are available. The Dwyka Tented Lodge offers a boma barbecue under the stars.
Safari and Activities
Game drives run twice daily, morning and afternoon. Guides focus on conservation and track animals without disturbing them. Walks near cheetahs and rock art tours are offered. A spa provides massages, body scrubs, and facials. The outdoor pool has sun loungers. Children can join the kids' club and eco-explorers program.
Location and Access
Sanbona is on Route 62, 3.5 hours from Cape Town. The reserve covers 54,000 hectares of Karoo and fynbos. Airport shuttles and transfers from Cape Town are available. The rough road to the welcome center requires an SUV. Bus stops and metro lines are not nearby.
Extra Services
Staff include private check-in and check-out. Babysitting and laundry are available. Room service runs 24 hours. The lodge provides Wi-Fi and safety deposit boxes. Tips in cash rand are recommended for guides and staff.
